Parker "51" Aerometric
Nashiji-Maki
Image Sequence

The nashiji-maki or nashiji-nuri technique uses a sprinkling metal flakes which is covered over with the highly transparent nashiji-urushi. The technique is said to be reminiscent of the skin of an asian pear, and thus the name, pear ground or nashi-ji.

The technique used on this Parker "51" uses a graded sprinkling of fine silver powder coated with a thicker layer of urushi to create a subtler variation of the traditional nashiji technique.
